Sleek and refined are just two words that can be used to describe the 2019 Genesis G90. Despite being a relatively new model (it debuted as a 2017), the G90 has quickly become one of the most highly sought-after full-sized luxury sedans on the market. It's thoughtfully crafted to fit five passengers in luxe comfort, with exceptional amenities all around. Although it's equipped similarly to its German competitors, the G90 is more affordable and comes loaded at the base level with more standard features.

Trims and Powertrains

There are two versions of the '19 G90: the 3.3T Premium and 5.0 Ultimate. As the names imply, the 3.3T Premium gets its power from a turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 engine that delivers a robust 365 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque, and the 5.0 Ultimate gets a 5.0-liter V8 that whisks out 420 hp and 383 lb.-ft. of torque. Both engines are paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission and come standard with rear-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive is available.

Amenities for Convenience

The 3.3T Premium is generously set up with 19-inch wheels, adaptive LED headlights, heated and power-folding side mirrors, a hands-free trunk lid, an adaptive suspension, adaptive cruise control, auto-dimming side mirrors, and keyless entry and ignition. On the inside, leather upholstery, tri-zone automatic climate control, a 22-way power driver's seat, a 16-way power passenger's seat (both are heated and have memory functions; a cooling feature is optional), a heated power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a simulated-suede headliner, ambient interior lighting, power sunshades for the rear windows, rear seat climate and audio controls, and heated rear seats all come standard.

With regard to technology features, the 3.3T Premium comes outfitted with a 12.3-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, integrated navigation with voice controls, satellite and HD radio, a wireless charging pad, USB ports for both rows, a CD/DVD player, a head-up display, and a premium 17-speaker Lexicon surround-sound audio system. The 5.0 Ultimate adds all of this plus power-adjustable rear seats (14-way for the right seat and 12-way for the left seat) with optional ventilation and memory functions. There's also a pair of 10.3-inch high-definition screens for the rear passengers.

Technology and Active Safety

Lexus is dedicated to keeping its vehicles' occupants as safe as possible, and so all versions of the 2019 G90 come with a multi-view/surround-view camera system, front and rear parking sensors, forward collision warning and mitigation with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning and intervention, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, a drowsy driver monitor, and Genesis Connected Services telematics services. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has declared the '19 Genesis one of its Top Safety Pick+, which is their highest distinction. The IIHS also gave it a "good" rating in every category, except for the Front Crash Prevention Results category, where it was rated as "superior" (the potential scores are poor, marginal, acceptable, good, and superior).
