The Genesis G90 is the Rolex of the auto industry: timeless, iconic, and among the most luxurious. This is especially the case for the redesigned 2023 model, which embraces an expanded array of upscale refinements that are all new for this flagship full-sized sedan. It delivers an experience like never before, boasting state-of-the-art amenities, a roster of advanced driving aids, and an exquisite design that has been painstakingly crafted: no compromises were made in the creation of the 2023 G90. It continues to lead the luxury vehicle segment with its next-level accoutrements and the bonus of industry-leading warranty coverage.
All-New for 2023
The second-generation Genesis G90 is a master stroke in style and luxury, delivering enhanced features, elevated performance, and improved aesthetics. Kicking things off is the new Digital Key 2 system, which is now compatible with Apple devices. With Digital Key, the driver’s smartphone functions as the vehicle’s key fob, and you can even share access with other drivers’ devices if they need to borrow the car. On top of that, the ’23 G90 receives an innovative Mood Curator that sets the vehicle’s ambience through unique lighting, sound, and fragrances.
Further enhancing the interior experience of the ’23 G90 is the inclusion of Virtual Venues Live. This advanced audio system recreates the sound environments of places that are tailor-made for playing music, such as Boston Symphony Hall. Plus, it works in conjunction with the G90’s upmarket 26-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system to deliver an unrivaled auditory experience. The redesigned G90 also incorporates a few new performance-enhancing attributes, like a multi-chamber air suspension, rear-wheel steering, and a revised twin-turbo V6 engine that’s also available as a mild hybrid.
Trims and Powertrains
Genesis presents the 2023 G90 in 3.5T AWD and 3.5T E-Supercharger AWD powertrain configurations. The 3.5T AWD comes with a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 375 hp and 391 lb.-ft. of torque, while the 3.5T E-Supercharger gets a 48-volt mild hybrid supercharged 3.5-liter V6 that makes 409 hp and 405 lb.-ft. of torque. Both are matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The model’s fuel economy is above average in its segment: the non-supercharged 3.5-liter V6 models achieve 18 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, whereas the supercharged versions return 17 city/24 highway.
3.5T AWD
With all of the 375-horsepower 3.5T AWD’s upscale standard features, it seems inappropriate to call it a base trim. It’s packed with equipment for luxury and convenience, and its ritzy interior is graced with Nappa leather upholstery, a simulated-leather upper instrument panel, massaging front seats that are also heated and ventilated and have power bolsters, wood interior trim with a matte finish, a microfiber suede headliner and pillars, a heated steering wheel, heated rear outboard seats, a panoramic sunroof, and tri-zone automatic climate control. The aforementioned Mood Curator and bacteria-killing UV lights in the rear-seat console are truly advanced features for the time, while power rear sunshades and active noise control elevate the ride to novel levels of comfort. For elegant convenience, Genesis includes a hands-free smart trunk, power-folding side mirrors with puddle lights, power-close doors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a wireless phone charge pad.
State-of-the-art technology such as the newly Apple-compatible Digital Key 2 and a fingerprint authentication system provide convenience and security. The 3.5T AWD also has an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, power-adjustable front seats, a power tilt-and-telescopic steering column, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and a head-up display. Its 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system combines smartphone integration (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, navigation, and Bang & Olufsen’s latest sound system, which has Virtual Venues Live 3-D surround sound and 26 speakers.
3.5T E-Supercharger AWD
Besides the intensified 409-hp mild-hybrid powertrain upgrade, the 3.5T E-Supercharger AWD is sweetened with additional mechanical and luxury features. Drivers will appreciate the rear-wheel steering and multi-chamber air suspension, which improve the handling and ride quality. This loaded trim level also has soft-close doors, ventilated and power-adjustable rear seats with massage, and a second-row wireless phone charge pad. Its infotainment setup is identical to the 3.5T AWD’s, with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, navigation, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a 26-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system with Virtual Venues Live 3-D surround sound.
