Power, Performance, and Pricing

The standard engine in the 2024 Genesis G80 is a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder that makes 300 horsepower and 311 lb.-ft. of torque. Compare that output to that of the base engines in the Mercedes-Benz E Class and BMW 5 Series, both of which produce merely 255 hp and 295 lb.-ft. of torque. The Volvo S90’s mild-hybrid powerplant makes 295 hp and 310 lb.-ft. of torque. While the Audi A7’s engine whisks out 335 hp and 369 lb.-ft. of torque, the G80 offers an even heartier option: a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 churning out 375 hp and 391 lb.-ft. of torque.

As for fuel economy, the 2024 G80 achieves an EPA-rated 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway with the 2.5-liter turbo. While some of its competitors may be slightly more fuel efficient, this advantage is outweighed by their higher prices. The G80 has a starting MSRP of $54,400, which is significantly less than the Audi A7’s base price of $72,000. While the other models are priced closer to the G80, they still fall short in terms of affordability, with the E-Class starting at $62,300, the 5-Series at $57,900, and the S90 at $59,695.

State of the Art Equipment

Beyond its reputation as a high-performance powerhouse, the G80 offers plenty of luxurious amenities. Standard across all trims are indulgent features such as a hands-free trunk, heated front and rear seats with driver’s position memory, a heated power tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, and a 14.5-inch infotainment system with navigation, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.

The higher trim levels take opulence to the next level with standard Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, a head-up display, a 12.3-inch 3D digital gauge cluster, a 21-speaker Lexicon audio system, wireless phone charging, tri-zone automatic climate control, and Digital Key. While many of these features are available in competing models, the G80 offers more value by including most of them at a lower price point.

Safety and Peace of Mind

The 2024 G80 comes with a comprehensive suite of standard driver-assistance technologies, including forward collision-avoidance assist, adaptive cruise control with speed limit assist, lane following assist, lane keeping assist, driver attention warning, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, parking sensors, automatic high beams, and safe exit assist. In the higher trims, enhanced safety aids like a surround-view camera, a blind-spot view monitor, and Remote Smart Parking Assist (self-parking) make for a more seamless driving experience. Although some of these technologies are also offered by the G80’s competitors, the G80 provides more of them at a better price point.

To further its appeal, the G80 offers industry-leading protection with a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile basic bumper-to-bumper warranty. The other models in this comparison only provide coverage for up to 4 years/50,000 miles. Plus, Genesis includes 3 years/36,000 miles of complimentary factory-scheduled maintenance, a benefit that only BMW matches.
