GV60 Magma Preview
With a decade of experience in the U.S., Genesis is stepping up its game with Magma, a performance sub-brand that will debut with the 2027 Genesis GV60 Magma. Based on the already capable all-electric GV60 crossover, this edition bearing the Magma name will boast over-the-top capabilities that will keep many sports cars in its rearview mirror. At the same time, this first Magma will provide generous room for five passengers alongside ample cargo space.
Genesis hasn’t released many details about the GV60 Magma to date, but we’ve compiled a preview highlighting what we know and anticipate about this exciting addition to the luxury crossover segment. Look for it to make its debut later this year.

The GV60 Magma will borrow much of its styling from the standard GV60. However, Genesis intends to grace it with distinctive front and rear bumpers and a rear spoiler. A lowered ride will complete the look while making it clear to admirers that this isn't just another crossover. We expect Magma Orange, a head-turning exterior hue, to be one of the color options for the GV60 Magma, as Genesis is using it as the signature shade for this special line.
Powertrain
Like the regular GV60, the Magma variant is anticipated to use an 84-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It will power a dual-electric-motor configuration with all-wheel-drive capability. While the two motors in the Performance AWD trim of the standard GV60 produce a maximum output of 483 horsepower and 516 lb.-ft. of torque, Genesis is expected to re-engineer these components for the Magma version to create a top horsepower rating of 609 (641 horsepower in Boost mode). The torque is slated to be increased to 583 lb.-ft. Genesis is also upgrading the battery cooling system to handle the rigors of performance driving.
Genesis estimates that the GV60 Magma will be able to accelerate from a standstill to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds. The car will offer five drive modes: Launch Control, Boost, Spring, GT, and MY (a personalized option). To accommodate the model’s additional capabilities, Genesis will upgrade supporting systems. The suspension has been recalibrated and will accommodate specially designed 21-inch Pirelli tires. Braking is enhanced with monoblock calipers in the front and 15.75-inch rotors.
Charging and Standard Amenities
At peak capacity, recharging the GV60 Magma’s battery from 10% to 80% should take less than 20 minutes, which is similar to the charging rate for the regular GV60. As for its estimated range, that information was not yet available at the time of this writing.
Genesis hasn’t released any specifics about trims or amenities for the 2027 GV60 Magma. It could be offered in a single, range-topping edition (ahead of the GV60 Performance AWD) or with a couple of variants. Given the significance of the Magma sub-brand launch and the manufacturer’s understandable desire not to complicate the rollout, we expect the GV60 Magma to be available as a single, highly equipped trim.
Warranty
One of the signature features of Genesis ownership is an industry-leading warranty. This coverage provides bumper-to-bumper protection for five years or 60,000 miles and powertrain safeguards for ten years or 100,000 miles. There’s no reason not to expect GV60 Magma buyers to get the same benefits, including three years or 36,000 miles of complimentary standard maintenance.
